How Big Blocks are More Secure

As we've seen in the previous chapter by eliminating the need for volunteers a consensus can avoid the need to be intentionally limited. But not only does Litheum avoid suffering security degradation at higher scale as we discussed in the previous chapter, Litheum also becomes more secure as the blocks become bigger.

To understand this it's i mportant to realize that with Proof of Performance bigger blocks are also more difficult to produce. We measure contribution to block production via the RPCs and the size of the blocks in fees. A fee paying transaction cannot be created without some node having provided data via an RPC to the wallet which is creating the transaction.

This can also be understood when we consider that utility is the ultimate origin of security as we discussed earlier.
