After a brief pause to focus on a crucial engineering task and some wonderful personal milestones (our founder just welcomed a new family member!), the team has been back at it, turning our vision into reality.

Major Milestones on the Road to EVM Compatibility

Transaction Database Integration: Smoother Wallet Experience

One of the most significant breakthroughs has been the integration of a brand-new transaction database. What does that mean? In simple terms, this upgrade will streamline wallet functionality, making it more seamless and efficient. It also enables key JSON-RPCs, a core piece of the puzzle for full EVM compatibility. In other words, we’re getting closer to making Litheum a dream platform for developers familiar with Ethereum-based tolls, opening up new opportunities for innovation. 

EVM State Transition: A Leaner, Meaner Blockchain

In a major architectural shift, we’ve fully deprecated the old UTXO (Unspent Transaction Output) set and moved wallet database maintenance to the EVM state. Why does this matter? Well, by transitioning from legacy systems, we’re making Litheum leaner, faster, and more efficient. This isn’t just a clean up job, it’s a bold step forward that enhances performance and scalability, setting the stage for what's to come. 

Testing Solidity Smart Contracts: Paving the Way for Developers

Litheum is about more than just blockchain, it's about empowering developers to build the next generation of decentralized applications (dApps). That’s why we’ve begun rigorous testing of Solidity smart contracts. By focusing on the most critical EIP’s, we’re ensuring that Litheum will support the features developers need most. This effort is all about giving developers the tools they’re familiar with, while delivering Litheum’s unmatched performance. 

Axum Networking Stack: Ready for Scalability

As part of our ongoing optimization efforts, we’ve unified our networking stack using the Axum framework; a high performance, Rust-based system. Why Axum? Because it gives us the solid foundation we need to scale Litheum as we move closer to full EVM integration. This upgrade makes sure that Litheum isn’t just powerful now, but ready for the future, with a robust infrastructure that can handle anything developers throw at it.
